INTERNATIONAL SESSION 2018

theme-2

International Sessions are the largest events of the EYP Network and are based on the concept of parliamentary debates. They are organised since 1988 and happen three times every year in one of the 40 countries which comprise the Network.

European Youth Parliament Lithuania, with the support of former Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, the Mayor of the City of Vilnius and Vilnius Tourist Information Centre, has been announced as the organiser of the International Session of Summer 2018 in Vilnius.

In Summer 2018 around 300 ambitious youngsters will be summoned in Vilnius to discuss the most pressing issues of Europe. During th 9-days event 15 resolutions on different topics will be compiled and presented to the European Commission and Members of the European Parliament. Businessmen, politicians and statesmen are welcomed to contribute to this event!
Vilnius is famous for the combination of historic heritage and modern improvements. The city with the largest medieval oldtown in Central and Eastern Europe is also acknowledged as one of the most attractive and affordable startup ecosystems in the world (“Forbes”, 2015). These qualities echo in the theme of the event – “Learning from the Past, Shaping the Future.“.
Year 2018 will mark the 100 year anniversary of the independence of Lithuania. In order to highlight the connection between this historical event and the International Session, the theme “Learning from the Past, Shaping the Future” was chosen. This theme will be reflected in the selection of topic discussions, while the participants will be introduced to the history of Vilnius and Lithuania during the cultural programme.
-To present Lithuania as open, inovative and business-friendly country;
-To introduce the historical and cultural heritage of Lithuania to the participants;
-To encourage the common understanding of European diversity among the participants;
-To improve the skills of cooperation, leadership and critical thinking of the participants.
